Folks, we all saw what happened
before Election 2012 when all manner of “Men-of-God” and leaders of other
religious sects (Imams, traditional African religion, etc.) flooded our ears
with prophecies that turned out to be false and became the foundation for
resistance and ugly behaviour by those who genuinely lost the elections but won’t
accept defeat. Some of those prophecies even verged on treason but were
overlooked. Others turned out to be the motivation for more false prophecies
regarding the death of President Mahama and many others.
Nothing happened, even when it
became clear that the scare-mongers were indeed operating as lackeys of the
politicians that they conspired with to discredit the winner of Election 2012
(President Mahama) and the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (Dr. Kwadwo
Afari Gyan. They and their evil schemes fell apart as the dust settled; but a
year after the Supreme Court had confir4med and sealed Akufo-Addo’s fate as a
sore loser, he himself still can’t come to terms with that reality, saying
yesterday that the NPP won’t allow itself to be cheated again. By making such porous utterances, he
continues to prove that he hasn’t learnt anything useful from his fate to
present a better image of himself at Election 2016 if he is chosen to lead the
NPP again.
We must go back to the false
prophecies, though. Two days ago, this news report was published:
“The founder and general overseer of Word Victory Chapel
International, Prophet Doctor Emmanuel Kofi Enim has prophesied victory for
President John Dramani Mahama in the 2016 general election. He has also
prophesied that the 2012 presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party
(NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would emerge as the winner in the NPP
congress on Sunday.
He
said God revealed the victory of President Mahama to him through a vision and
has asked him to make it known to Ghanaians as a sign of God’s endorsement of
the President. “In a very explicit vision, I saw the president seated on
a presidential seat and clad in a White wear with an inscription, 2016. I asked
God the meaning of the vision and He told me President Mahama is destined to
win the 2016 general election and would be enthroned for the second time as
president,” he told the Ghanaian Times yesterday in Accra.
According
to him, the vision was not borne out of political motivation or affiliations
but as a neutral voter and a son of a staunch NPP supporter, he was only
blessed with the vision and shared with the church members on Wednesday, August
27.” (See: http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=323496)
Then,
this one too appeared today:
The
Imam of the Kumasi Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul Momin Haroun, has lauded Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his continuous faith in God, assuring him that
victory will be his portion in the 2014 presidential primary of the New
Patriotic Party, and also in the presidential election of 2016.
Alhaji
Abdul Momin Haroun made this known when Nana Akufo-Addo joined Muslims at the
Kumasi Central Mosque to perform Jummah (Friday prayers), immediately after he
delivered a speech to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Supreme Court's
verdict on the election petition. (Source: http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/politics/artikel.php?ID=323602)
MY
COMMENTS
It
is really funny for these people to start bombarding us with all these
prophecies. I pity Prophet Doctor Emmanuel Kofi Enim for running his mouth this
way. Is he even sure that President Mahama will contest Election 2016 to
predict victory for him? As for the one on Akufo-Addo, I will simply dismiss it
as inconsequential. The stage-managing that has been going on should reveal to
every observer of NPP politics that Akufo-Addo will win the slot. Can this
Prophet Doctor Enim predict the atmosphere in the NPP after the Super Delegates
Congress/Conference? He may carve a niche thereby.
The
one by the Kumasi Imam can best be written off as the product of a feverish
mind doing overtime. Putting these early prophecies in focus, though, we can
say that those so-called “men-of-God” and Imams will be serving society better
if they turn attention to better issues to motivate the citizens for national
development. Their hallucinations won’t. Truly, God isn’t speaking to these
people with an over-fertile imagination. I won’t respect them for coming out
this way nor should you.
Why
will God choose to reveal the fate of these politicians to only such people and
not the politicians themselves? Don’t tell me that it is because they have
devoted themselves to the work/word of God and are, therefore, more sacrosanct
and ready to be used as vessels by God. They are no more spiritual than anybody
beyond immersing themselves in the Christian Bible, the Muslim Qur’an or any
other literature of religious import. Even the illiterate African traditional
religionists (priests and priestesses) trust their rants or incantations to do
the job for them, especially when “possessed” (which in itself is a fabrication
or pretense to come across as spiritual).
In
all honesty, those jumping the gun now to give such prophecies are doing so
just to be noticed and given something to cushion their lives. They are as
dangerously as the politicians promoting bribery and corruption yet turning
round to blame everybody else but themselves for its spread. Liars!!
I shall return…
